It Began With A Vision
The chartering of Al Tariq no. 245
Al Tariq Temple No. 245 was born from a clear vision and a willingness to build. That vision was first carried by founding Noble Joseph L. Collins, who recognized what was needed and committed himself to making it real. Alongside a small group of dedicated men, he did the hard work—organizing, planning, and laying a strong foundation—so the Temple could be established with purpose and built to last. What began as an idea became a living institution because these Nobles chose action over intention. Their commitment helped shape Al Tariq into a Temple rooted in brotherhood, guided by leadership, and positioned to serve the community with impact. |
Al Tariq Temple No. 245 was built through determination, sacrifice, and steady work. The Nobles who carried the vision forward invested time, resources, and true sweat equity—staying the course until the Temple was fully established and positioned to serve the Oasis of Marietta and the Desert of Georgia. On December 3, 2011, Al Tariq Temple #245 (U.D.) was formally consecrated in Marietta, Georgia—marking a historic milestone for our Nobility and our community. The occasion was witnessed by Imperial leadership, including Imperial Potentate Donald L. Parks, Imperial Recorder Ron Dickens, Imperial Outer Guard Dr. Corey Thomas, and several other Imperial Officers, along with Deputy of the Desert James Johnson, who were present to honor and affirm the moment. A special acknowledgment is due to the Nobles of Al-Karim Temple #242, who performed the work that brought 37 novices into the Shrine—creating the foundation of Nobles who would carry the responsibility of building, growing, and developing this new Temple with excellence and integrity. Our first official meeting was held on December 10, 2012. During that meeting, Dr. Corey Thomas issued a clear challenge: get to work in the community immediately. That charge became our standard. From that point forward, Al Tariq committed to being visible, consistent, and service-driven—building a legacy defined not only by fellowship, but by impact. |
